We have a feeling that this news is going to help you dance your cares away like a kid: 30 years after the final new episode of Fraggle Rock aired on HBO, the network is bringing back all 96 episodes of Jim Henson‘s classic live action puppet series, newly restored in HD.
According to a report from Deadline, HBO will begin re-airing the beloved children’s series, which originally ran on the premium cable network from 1983 until 1987, across all of their platforms, including HBO, HBO GO, and HBO NOW. Fraggle Rock has been available to stream on both Hulu and Amazon Prime, but this is the first time it has been fully remastered. We’re going to bet high definition won’t do any favors for the Gorgs.
With the popularity of HBO today, this means an entirely new generation of kids will get to learn about how different cultures work together to form a society (where would the Fraggles be without the hard work and dedication of Doozers?). It also means a whole bunch of us that watched the series when it first aired, or as reruns on TNT, or even in its animated form in the ’90s, will get a chance once again to hear the music play down at Fraggle Rock.
This development should also help explain why we have randomly been bursting into this song for most of our lives.
What a perfect show about cooperation and understanding to have come back into our lives at exactly the same time we’d like nothing more than to dance away our worries for another day.
