For the past couple of years, the center-most area of Universal Studios Hollywood’s upper level has been under construction for something magical. Replacing the Gibson Amphitheater and the Adventures of Curious George, the long-planned Wizarding World of Harry Potter area is just about finished and will open on April 7 of this year. It’s finally here, Potterheads! Not only has a replica of Hogwarts and several streets of Diagon Alley been constructed (in a perpetually snowy part of the year), but also the ride Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey, a version of the one already in operation at Universal Studios Japan and Orlando.
But since we’re still a couple months away from actual opening and the swarm of magic-loving patrons making lines ridiculous for the foreseeable future, we’re going to have to be content with some new photos from Entertainment Weekly.
