This is the moment we’ve been waiting for since X-Men: First Class came out in 2011. Now it will finally arrive with next year’s X-Men: Apocalypse–James McAvoy as a fully chrome-domed and bald-headed Professor Charles Francis Xavier, finally making his full transition to the version of the character that we all know and love from the comics. As with most things related to the production of X-Men: Apocalypse, the reveal of McAvoy getting his head all nice and follicle free came via director Bryan Singer’s Instagram account.
Singer has been using Instagram to make reveals both small and large in terms of the movie’s production, everything from casting announcements (Olivia Munn as Psylocke and Lana Condor as Jubilee, the return of Lucas Till as Havok) to production art (the first concept drawings of Angel and later, Archangel) and the cast in their totally awesome ’80s attire on a shopping mall set. He also revealed the first images of Kodi Smit-McPhee in full Nightcrawler make-up on his Instagram account. No one can ever claim Singer is a director who doesn’t know how to build anticipation using social media. With Oscar Isaac joining the cast this week for filming in Canada, could we finally be getting our first glimpse of him as Apocalypse? Judging from the past few months, I’d say there’s a pretty good chance of that coming to pass.
So what do you think of James McAvoy is his full on Professor X mode? Are you glad he’s gone bald, or do you wish he’s kept his hippy look from Days of Future Past? Let us know in the comments below!
