I’ve always found the holiday season to be just a tad too jolly. Yes, yes, love and peace and goodwill towards men are all fine in moderation, but what about those of us that would like to see just a tad bit more gore and horror during the most wonderful time of the year? This season, our holiday wishes are coming true with Krampus, a horror-comedy set during Christmas, and today we got our first look at the film with some newly released photos.
USA Today released the pictures, which show that this really will be a marriage of a holiday film and a horror film. (A horriday film? We’ll keep working on it.) Boasting a great cast that includes Adam Scott, Toni Collette, Allison Tolman, and David Koechner, Krampus tells the delightful tale of a demon that doles out punishment to the naughty at Christmas. You can check out the images in our full gallery below.
If you didn’t know any better, you might confuse this for a touching moment in Where The Wild Things Are. Except in that one they maybe eat Max. (The kid’s name in this is Max actually…)
I can’t be the only person that thinks of this scene when reading the description of the film, right?
Set to open on December 4th, the Legendary Pictures film will be released by Universal, and was written and directed by Michael Dougherty (Trick ‘R Treat).
Any other holidays you’d like to see get the horror treatment? While we wait for Eli Roth’s faux-trailer, Thanksgiving, to become a reality, give us your best ideas in the comments section below.
In the meantime, here’s a peek at the scariest new movies hitting theaters this fall:
