Bryan Singer is nothing if not generous with the social media scoops. He shared all kinds of behind-the-scenes photos during the making of X-Men: Days of Future Past and it looks like he’s doing the same for X-Men: Apocalypse. Or, at least he would have done until someone told him to remove it, probably. See, Singer Tweeted and Instagramed a photo or two of Kodi Smit-McPhee in his full Kurt Wagner look but before too long the Nightcrawler images BAMF’d back into the ether…but NOT before Comic Book.com was able to screenshot it for the world to see. No information will go undisceminated, people!
Pretty straightforward blue fella look, certainly compliments Alan Cumming’s look from X2, at least in these dark images. Singer has been pretty big on keeping the look the same in all of the X-Men films, at least the four he’s directed, despite their ever-splintering continuities. (It wouldn’t be X-Men if it didn’t have at least SOME kind of messed up timeline.) Nightcrawler is a favorite character of Singer’s, as well as of a lot of comics fans who’ve been disappointed that he only appeared in one movie. Granted, he stole that one movie.
The tweet that now no longer is was accompanied by a video of the first Nightcrawler image (above) teleporting into view, with blue smoke and everything, before leaving again just as quickly. While the tweet isn’t available, the video still is if you’d like to click here.
X-Men: Apocalypse is filming now and has a lot of returning cast members from the younger X timeline, as well as a bevy of new ones, including Sophie Turner as Jean Grey, Tye Sheridan as Cyclops, Olivia Munn as Psylocke, and of course Oscar Isaac as the eponymous Apocalypse, which is my new favorite two-word phrase.
What do you think of Smit-McPhee as Nightcrawler? Is blue the warmest color? Let us know below!
