Has there ever been a better video game companion animal than Fallout 4’s Dogmeat? Not only can Dogmeat fool dogs into believing that he’s real, he can attack enemies, retrieve items, and provide the player’s character with some much needed emotional comfort. Best of all, Dogmeat loves the player unconditionally and he is seemingly immortal.
Musician and video game fan Jeff Dutton a.k.a. Bonecage has composed a new original song as a tribute to this newest incarnation of Dogmeat, with an assist and lyrics by fellow YouTube musician Mr. Gee. “Even though he occasionally gets in the way, Dogmeat is a good boy,” said Bonecage on his YouTube page. “He brings a bit of love and comfort to the otherwise nightmarish landscape of Fallout 4, and I thought he deserved a song… a drop-D 90s Silverchair-ish song… about a game dog. You’re welcome!”
Previously, Bonecage also released a song devoted to the long wait for Fallout 4, which was sung to the music of REO Speedwagon’s “I Can’t Fight This Feeling Anymore.”
Bonecage’s collaborator Mr. Gee recently finished an ambitious project called Songs in the Key of Fallout, which features 89 original Fallout inspired songs that were created in 89 days.
Mr. Gee’s Songs in the Key of Fallout is available on his Bandcamp page, and on his YouTube channel. You can also visit Bonecage’s Bandcamp page and his YouTube channel. We’ve previously featured Bonecage’s Better Call Saul and Ghostbusters mashup tune as well as his Terminator original song set to the music of Duran Duran’s “Hungry Like The Wolf.”
