War never changes…and neither does the unbridled excitement I feel when hearing Ron Perlman’s sweet, surly strains at the beginning of a new Fallout game. After launching a mysterious countdown clock yesterday, Bethesda revealed what everyone knew in the cockles of their hearts to be true, that Fallout 4 is on the way. Don’t take my word for it; watch the trailer above.
When the mysterious teaser site opened, it revealed a number of details about the hotly anticipated post-apocalyptic RPG, namely that it will be available for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. Moreover, we can now confirm that the game will take place in the ruined wastes of Boston, a.k.a. my old stomping grounds. With sights like the State House, Scollay Square, the Old North Church, and what looked like a retrofitted version of Old Ironsides displayed in the trailer, it looks as though there will be no shortage of places to mow down Super Mutants while calling everyone “wicked chowderheads.” (You know, the official insult of Boston? What? Did they change it after I left?”)
Can you believe that this is the studio’s first title since 2011’s Skyrim? The game’s world premiere will take place on Sunday, June 14 at 7PM PST at Bethesda’s first-ever E3 press conference. If you can’t make it in person, don’t sweat it because it will be livestreamed on Twitch and YouTube.
“We know what this game means to everyone,” said Game Director Todd Howard in a press release. “The time and technology have allowed us to be more ambitious than ever. We’ve never been more excited about a game, and we can’t wait to share it.”
As always, Nerdist will be at E3 in full effect, and you’d better believe we’ll be at that Bethesda event with bells on, bringing you the latest news as it happens. Stay tuned to Nerdist for more as this story develops.
