We’ve told you all about the upcoming Mad Max video game, the spinoff, and unrelated-story-up to Mad Max: Fury Road. (If you don’t remember, you can find that information and launch video here.) But now we’ve got the official game trailer for the title, and it’s got all the insane post-apocalyptia you would hope for.
The bad guy this time around is Scrotus (because, of course his name is Scotus), a musclebound behemoth of a man who has adorned himself with hoses, skulls, and spikes. Because, you know, he’s fashionable. He sort of reminds me of a mixture of Fury Road‘s Immortan Joe and The Road Warrior‘s Lord Humungus. He also has War Boys of his own, because what better way to impose your will on the Wasteland than with leukemia-afflicted zealots?
While Max in the game doesn’t look or sound all that much like Tom Hardy, he definitely has the swagger and attitude, which is all you need to drive your way through deserts and up against sufficiently spiky Volkswagens.
There will surely be more about this game coming out of E3, but for now, you can pre-order the game for PlayStation 4, Xbox, and PC. It’s set to drop September 1st, just in time for Labor Day weekend. Stock up on water, bullets, and guzzoline.
