Summer is drawing to an end, which means it’s time to head on back to school. Okay, I know that a lot of kids have been back to school since the middle of August already, which seems not very back-to-school-like, but there you have it. Meanwhile, Disney XD isn’t sending their latest characters Pickle and Peanut to their last year of high school until it’s truly September. September 1st to be exact.
Pickle and Peanut stars Jon Heder (Napoleon Dynamite) as the emotional Pickle and Johnny Pemberton (22 Jump Street) as the more carefree Peanut in an animated coming of (teen) age buddy comedy series. I don’t know why I needed to tell you that it’s “animated” since I’m pretty sure you’re smart enough to figure out that Jon Heder is probably not playing an actual pickle.
ANYWAY, created by Noah Z. Jones (“Fish Hooks”) and developed by Joel Trussell (“Yo Gabba Gabba!”), Pickle and Peanut are best friends living in a small town, finishing up high school, and trying to fit as much fun and hijinks into their last year of school before the inevitable onset of adulthood. Their fictional suburb near Reno, Nevada is — wonderfully quirky and bizarre. It’s like… well, why don’t you watch this EXCLUSIVE video to get a feel for what viewers can expect from the series.
See what I mean? Did you freeze frame the old lady at the end? Just me? Ok.
“Pickle and Peanut” premieres Monday, September 7 (9:00 PM, ET/PT) on Disney XD, with new episodes airing every Monday through October 5. The premiere episode will also be available on WATCH Disney XD, Disney XD on Demand, and DisneyXD.com beginning Tuesday, September 1.
