Ever since Jeff Bridges surprised us with his spoken word album full of warming drones and stream-of-conscious stories told in his uniquely soothing baritone, we have been sleeping like champions. That’s because Bridges did far more than just release a novelty LP with Squarespace, he crafted one of the most bizarrely transfixing, and truly tranquilizing albums of the year.
The first time we listened, we made it about halfway through before succumbing to the open embrace of Bridge’s croaky timbre. After snapping out of our hypnagogic trance, we felt thoroughly rested, but couldn’t help wondering how this whole project came together.
Our Editor in Chief, Brian Walton, caught up with The Dude himself at a recent press junket for Seventh Son for an exclusive interview about how the Sleep Tapes came to exist on our earthly plane. We found out that the project featured a star studded cast of collaborators (Keefus Ciancia who worked with T-Bone Burnett on True Detective among them) and much more!
Do you plan on listening to Jeff Bridges before you doze off tonight? Do you dudes think The Dude is the best dude to have ever been a dude? We sure do.
