Alan Tudyk and Nathan Fillion’s Con Man is leveling up. The web series isn’t just making an appearance at San Diego Comic-Con, it’s taking the stage of all stages: Hall H. In short, they’re not kidding around. The panel, titled “Con Man – The Fan Revolt 13 Years in the Making – How Indiegogo and Vimeo helped Alan Tudyk and Nathan Fillion put Fans First and Realize a Dream Project,” will feature the world premiere of the first ever clip from the show and offer a glimpse into what went on behind-the-scenes to make the project happen.
In case Con Man is somehow not on your radar, the web series is a meta story about the life of a man who was once a star in a cult classic sci-fi series but now tours the convention circuit. Wray Nerely (Tudyk) is learning to love and embrace his fans, while his former co-star Jack Moore (Fillion) has moved on and become a celebrity. The show was funded on Indiegogo to the tune of 3.2 million dollars–it’s the third highest funding film project on any crowdfunding platform.
And you can bet Tudyk and Fillion are pulling out all the stops as far as panel guests. They’ll appear along with producer PJ Haarsma and cast members Mindy Sterling, Tricia Helfer, Felicia Day, Casper Van Dien, Nolan North, Alison Haislip, and Sky Haarsma. You know, just a few awesome people. Plus, our very own Chris Hardwick will moderate the panel.
The Con Man panel will take place on Thursday, July 9, from 3:45pm-5:15pm PT. Are you planning to be there? Let us know in the comments.
