Every GAME OF THRONES Actor Who Has Been on The Nerdist Podcast

Nerdist started with The Nerdist Podcast as a way for our founder Chris Hardwick to talk shop with other established nerds. Today, The Nerdist Podcast is nearing 900 episodes and has been going strong for seven years. You know what else has been going for seven years? Game of Thrones. The two were born together, and so they have grown together. Chris has had multiple cast members on the show over the years, each of whom has given special insight into Westeros, both on and off the set. Make sure to click on each name to go to their episode!

George R.R. Martin

First was George R.R. Martin, the man who brought fantasy to the mainstream. While not a cast member of Game of Thrones, he wrote the damn books, so he’s on this list. In episode 388, Martin talked about his early days going to conventions, the trouble of bringing A Song of Ice and Fire to TV, and his love of football.

Kit Harington

Everybody’s favorite brooding Night’s Watchman spoke to Chris on episode 482 about his favorite football (soccer) team Manchester United, filming Game of Thrones in Iceland, and his movie Pompeii. Though the film is a few years old, it’s still worth listening to. Plus, Kit is much less brooding in real life.

Sean Bean

In Episode 559 Sean Bean sat down to talk about his show Legends, his start in acting, playing Ned Stark, and how every character he plays dies tragically. Well, not all of them, but enough that the hashtag #DontKillSeanBean was trending for a while.

Maisie Williams

Episode 709 was a bit different than the rest in that it was multiple live interviews at Comic-Con with Maisie Williams, Tom Hiddleston, and Guillermo Del Toro, which is a crazy enough lineup that you should listen just for that! During Maisie’s portion she talks about what it was like being a teenager on set and basically growing up on Game of Thrones.

Nikolaj Coster-Waldau

While Jaime Lannister went from villain to hero, Nikolaj has always been a great person. In episode 802 he discusses what TV he watched growing up in Denmark, why he wanted to become an actor, Jaime Lannister, and Game of Thrones‘ incredible success. The guys also come up with a Lannister family variety show, which we’d totally watch.

Ian McShane

Though Ian McShane only spent a single episode on Game of Thrones, his performance was captivating, and that’s more than enough to get him on this list. In episode 843 Ian talks about his start in the business, how he picks projects, his professional football player father, his struggle with addiction, and his film The Hollow Point. This was pre-American Gods, but there is plenty of engrossing conversation still. Mr. McShane is a master of his craft, and we are all privileged to hear what he has to say.
