Spoilers and such for that Star Wars movie you should have seen by now!
With all the buzz about Star Wars: The Force Awakens comes quite a few wonderful humorous takes on the movie. After all, the showing of a true fan is the ability to make complete fun of the thing you love. We saw this mixture of affection and mockery with the parody twitter account of “Emo Kylo Ren,” in which someone extrapolated the Force Awakens villain’s brooding nature and quickness to emotional anger by tweeting maudlin and—you guessed it—”emo” things from his perspective. Frankly, it’s fantastic.
Not to be outdone, someone else has taken it upon him or herself to start a Twitter account for Luke Skywalker, and fill it with musings the self-exiled Jedi might post under the handle @.
As with all Twitter accounts, VeryLonelyLuke is used to broadcast its character’s inane thoughts in hopes of grabbing anyone’s attention. The tweets are almost beautiful in their desperation.
Much like Emo Kylo Ren, the account keeps churning out hits as well as a fair amount of misses. Still, it’s a concept that continues to bring the Internet joy. The ending of The Force Awakens does raise some questions about what Luke has been doing all this time in exile. We’re sure there’s been some sort of training involved, but we can’t help but think that the moment he saw a ship coming into the atmosphere he had to jump up, clean crumbs off his robe, and race to the top of that hill to make it appear he’s been all sorts of serious for decades. Jedi master or not, we know from Yoda’s time in exile you can go a bit bananas, so a fair amount of this had to have happened:
