With all the hype surrounding Star Wars: Battlefront – which Dan Casey and I found to be exceedingly good at this year’s E3 – you might have easily forgotten about the other Star Wars console game that EA will be publishing in the future. There haven’t been any details on the game outside of Amy Hennig coming aboard as its creative director, but the voice of Nathan Drake himself, Nolan North, was so kind to share a few details about the game during a Q&A panel at MetroCon.
Skip to the 20:55 mark in the video below to hear what he had to say:
“If you’re a big fan of Amy Hennig and her style of story, she’s gone to EA and is going to reboot a brand new Star Wars franchise in the style of Uncharted,” explained North. “I happen to know a lot about it and it’s going to be awesome.”
North also went on to say when asked if the game was Star Wars 1313 that, “It’s different, but along the same lines.”
You can draw what you want from that statement, but my guess is this new title will be a third-person shooter packed with intense action sequences, similar to what we’ve seen in both the Uncharted series and the Star Wars 1313 trailer. It isn’t hard for to envision a Star Wars game running on an engine similar to that of the Dead Space series either. Given Visceral’s pedigree for integrating dynamic set-pieces into their gameplay, Nolan North’s description of the game doesn’t seem like a far cry at all.
Does this sound like a Star Wars game you can get behind? Will this heal the wounds of Star Wars 1313‘s cancellation? Blast your thoughts down into the comments below. In the meantime, let’s take a second to once again bask in what could’ve been.
