“Do I not destroy my enemies when I make them my friends?”
When Abraham Lincoln uttered those wonderful words of wisdom, he probably did not have in mind a ubiquitous donut shop franchise (one that is actually more famous these days for selling coffee) and a company that mass-produces bakery items designed to be warmed up in your toaster, but by god if the 16th president didn’t perfectly sum up this previously unthinkable union between Dunkin Donuts and Pop-Tarts.
We came across this news of the fast food mega-breakfast superpowers coming together at Refinery29, and it will make those of you who aren’t content with merely drinking coffee very happy. That’s because, this month, Pop-Tarts is releasing two new types of their toaster pastries based on Dunkin Donuts’ coffee flavors: Chocolate Mocha and Vanilla Latte. The Chocolate Mocha ones have a double-espresso filling with cream-flavored icing, and the Vanilla Latte ones are made with vanilla filling and coffee-flavored icing. They are intended to be more appealing to adults.
Adults that eat Pop-Tarts.
Yup, we’d eat both of those. Kudos, guys. We also would drink Dunkin Donuts’ coffee that was Pop-Tart flavored, so both companies might want to keep that in mind. However, if you want to try these you’ll have to hurry, because they’re special limited time only flavors.
At least they are coming out at the perfect time for all those busy holiday shoppers who don’t have time to both stand in front of their toaster for 60 seconds AND go through a Dunkin Donuts drive through.
What was the point of Lincoln saving the Union if we had to do both?
What do you think of these new Dunkin-flavored Pop-Tarts? Would you eat them? Tell us why in the comments below.
