Crimson Peak hits theaters tomorrow, and the majority of the internet has already been drooling over the trailers, the ad campaigns, and every single little bit of teasing that we have been given by the studio and director Guillermo del Toro. (We here at Nerdist loved the film.) Here’s another thing for fans of beauty, romance, and darkness to be excited for: the release of a book dedicated to the look and feel of the movie. Check out the trailer above.
Crimson Peak: The Art of Darkness chronicles the creative process that brought the film to life. There are extensive interviews both with del Toro and the impressive cast he assembled including Tom Hiddleston, Mia Wasikowska, Jessica Chastain and Charlie Hunnam. The pages drip with the elements Gothic mysteries, psychological thrillers, and dark romances are known for with special looks at the setting, the costumes, and the story itself. If you don’t get around to picking up the book before you see the movie, something tells me you’ll be heading straight for the bookstores after the credits roll. There are also biographies for each of the characters unveiling unknown secrets of their past.
This might be the perfect gift for someone who has a deep love of the Gothic, all things Guillermo del Toro, or simply things that are beautiful. And heck, you might even just grab it for someone who loves puns (come on – that title is clutch). This book will complete your love for this movie.
