One of the ways that Deadpool became an unexpected box office smash was the very clever promotional campaign for the film that clearly shared the title character’s irreverent sense of humor. And 20th Century Fox isn’t done with Deadpool yet!
Deadpool is hitting Blu-ray and DVD next week, and Fox has unleashed a new trailer to promote that release. But rather than show off previously unseen footage or deleted scenes from the movie, the Deadpool Blu-ray ad is an unexpectedly hilarious parody of every erectile dysfunction commercial that you’ve ever seen. Ryan Reynolds provided the voiceover as Deadpool played the hapless husband with ED issues alongside his significant other. They even have the twin outdoor bathtubs! The only way that this video could have been better is if Morena Baccarin had returned for the ad as well.
The Deadpool Blu-ray and DVD will feature two commentaries: one by director Tim Miller and Deadpool co-creator Rob Liefeld, and the other by Deadpool screenwriters Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese, with Reynolds. There will also be deleted and extended scenes, a gag reel, a featurette on the making of the film, galleries of concept art and storyboards, as well as something called “Deadpool’s Fun Sack.”
And if that’s not enough Deadpool for you, then you’ll be happy to hear that Reynolds recently closed his deal to return for Deadpool 2. As revealed in the first film’s post-credits scene, Deadpool 2 will also feature Cable, but there’s no word on who will play him or when Deadpool 2 will be released.
The Deadpool Blu-ray and DVD will hit stores next Tuesday, May 10.
