The entirety of Twin Peaks is coming to Blu-ray this July, including the prequel film Fire Walk with Me. Twin Peaks: The Entire Mystery features ten discs packed with episodes and 90 minutes of lost footage that CBS Digital has restored for the occasion. That’s not all, though. Actor Ray Wise said he would reprise his role as Leland Palmer for brand new material for the Blu-ray, and now we know what that hint was about: David Lynch interviews the Palmer family.
You read that properly. Lynch isn’t only interviewing the actors who portrayed the members of the Palmer family, he’s talking to the actors in character. Wise returns as Leland, Grace Zabriskie appears as Sarah Palmer, and Sheryl Lee will be back as the infamous Laura Palmer. Hopefully, she won’t have to be wrapped in plastic for the segment.
The two part featurette is called “Between Two Worlds,” and it takes place 25 years after the murder of Laura Palmer in a diner located somewhere between life and death. A minute and a half teaser of the interview between Lynch and Leland Palmer is enough to make me want to run to Netflix and rewatch Twin Peaks immediately. It’s a pleasure to watch Wise slip right back into the role of the distraught but also crazy Leland.
