Sir David Attenborough was on the Greg James BBC 1 radio show to promote his newest series, The Hunt, when the host asked him if he would narrate the beginning of the video from the “big pop star predator.”
“Really?” asked a worried Attenborough, “Adele will be cross with me.” After James assured the beloved and renowned naturalist and broadcaster that Adele would love it, as would his fans around the world (he was definitely right), Attenborough began to describe the beginning of the video, which sees a well-dressed Adele walking through an old, dusty house:
The year is 2000 and fifteen. The world appears to have a green tint to it, but there’s also some dead insects in the foreground, but don’t worry about that for now. Look as the world’s most famous pop star zooms down a dirt track in an old Mini. Money certainly hasn’t changed her.
I won’t spoil the rest of it, since reading about David Attenborough’s voice instead of listening to it is like having someone describe ice cream to you when you can’t eat it. This is as wonderful as you’d hope (and yes, he mentions the flip phone). The narration when the music starts to kick in especially killed me. David Attenborough could narrate paint drying and it would instantly become a Blu-ray I’d have to own.
What other videos would you like to have David Attenborough narrate? Besides all of them. Tell us in the comments below.
