There’s a war coming to Hell’s Kitchen in Daredevil season 2—and Jon Bernthal’s Punisher is basically the one-man army. In the latest featurette for Daredevil’s second season, Frank Castle’s evolution as a vigilante comes into focus.
The featurette offers up a lot of new footage from the upcoming season, particularly in the early confrontations between Daredevil (Charlie Cox) and Castle, the man later known as the Punisher. Judging from these clips, it appears that Castle didn’t choose the Punisher’s name and his military-level firepower will lead Daredevil to initially suspect that there’s more than one man behind Castle’s rampage.
Much to the surprise of Daredevil’s alter-ego, Matt Murdock, Castle’s crusade against criminals has support from Karen Page (Deborah Ann Woll). She also brings up an uncomfortable point: Daredevil paved the way for the Punisher’s brand of justice, and there’s no getting that genie back in the bottle.
The video also explores Castles reasons for leaving Daredevil alive after getting the upper hand in one of their first battles. The Punisher may not approve of Daredevil’s less than lethal methods, but he seems to have some measure of respect for him. That should come in handy if the two ever team up this season. As seen in the most recent trailer, Daredevil and Hell’s Kitchen have much bigger problems than just the Punisher. The ninja clan known as The Hand is moving in and taking over the criminal underworld. Potentially, a guy like Frank Castle could be a very powerful ally in that war.
Daredevil season 2 will premiere this Friday, March 18 on Netflix.
