If you were at Disneyland in Anaheim Friday, there is a very good chance you saw people wandering all over the park dressed up like they had just stepped out of the 1950s. Heck, if you were at Disneyland, there’s an even better chance YOU were wandering around the park dressed like you had stepped out of the 1950s. This weekend marked the Autumn outing of Dapper Day, a semi-annual event run by an organization outside of Disney to celebrate all things dressy.
Started in 2011, Dapper Day events are put together by a group of people who have a shared love of dressing up and looking good while out and about with people who feel the same. Their frequently asked question section on the event website gives a little more insight into the their mindset.
“DAPPER DAY Events celebrates the tradition of “stepping out in style” and are meant to showcase you at your best. We do not aim to recreate a specific period. All sophisticated attire is encouraged from vintage-inspired classics to chic contemporary looks. Active and retired military are encouraged to wear your dress blues or service uniforms if you like.”
Of course, an event this flashy is going to be widely documented across social media. Check out the links from Twitter and Instagram below to see some of our favorite outfits and posts from yesterday’s Dapper Day event in Disneyland. If you are interested in partaking in a future event with Dapper Day be sure to check out their schedule on their website.
