We give a lot of credit to anyone who is willing to spend their time dressed as a stormtrooper. Of all the costumes one could pick out of the Star Wars universe, those have to be some of the most cumbersome. In the movies, Imperial armor had to have been functional military-issue garb, but in the world we live in, it’s a lot of low visibility and a whole lot of heat-reflective hard plastic parts. Knowing this, our hats – or rather, helmets – are off to Boogie Storm.
Appearing on week five of auditions for Britain’s Got Talent, the dance group wowed the judges enough to be sent directly to the semi-finals via the coveted “golden buzzer.” In the video above, recently shared by Gizmodo, you can see exactly why they were fast-tracked. The group danced to a medley of pop songs with a surprising amount of grace and agility, making us wonder whether or not they’re really Jedi in disguise. Next time you see anyone dressed as a Stormtrooper, ask them to jog a short distance, and after they re-situate themselves, catch their breath, and de-fog their helmets, see what they say about doing flips or multiple back handsprings.
As wonderful as this is, we need to address a sincere concern about the safety of our galaxy. The hosts and judges joked that Simon Cowell was a Sith Lord. Could he be Supreme Leader Snoke? After all, he was the one to send Boogie Storm directly to the finals and it’s not like we haven’t seen members of the Dark Side hide in plain site before. His position of power is not unlike that of Palpatine’s and it would make sense that he’d want his Imperial guard by his side through the rest of the season.
What do you think of Boogie Storm? Should we alert the Resistance that there’s a new Sith in town? Let’s discuss in the comments below!
