Prior to the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, British actress Daisy Ridley was easily the least-known of the new cast members. Her character of Rey was also, as you might expect, shrouded in secrecy. But now that the movie’s come out and become pretty much a favorite of everyone in the world, Ridley is the face of the franchise, a hero to young people the world over, and everybody wants to know everything about her.
And you’re in luck, persistent fans, because Star Wars has put out an official Q&A video with Ridley, hosted by StarWars.com’s Andi Gutierrez, where fan questions were pulled from the head of R2-D2 (how perverse) and answered over the course of a half hour. The full video is below:
What really comes through a lot with this and other interviews with Ridley you may have seen is just how genuine she is, and how over the moon she is about getting to be a part of the Star Wars universe. Not for nothing, but she gets to fight with lightsabers and fly the Millennium Falcon next to Chewie — she’s basically Luke Skywalker and Han Solo combined!
There isn’t much she can give away about Star Wars: Episode VIII, but it’s interesting to note how much harder she finds keeping secrets this time around than she did on The Force Awakens. She’s so much more in the spotlight now, so those questions are only going to get more difficult. We’ll probably ask some of those tough questions at some time or another too. Sorry, Daisy.
