Disney’s D23 Expo 2015 begins today (Friday!) in Anaheim, California, and aside from all the forthcoming news on various Disney-related films and theme parks sure to drop this weekend, this is also a great convention for picking up exclusive collectible items—including a series of amazing screen prints made just for this convention.
There will be several new officially licensed screen print releases from well known artists like Mark Englert, JC Richard, Dave Perillo, Joe Dunn, and many more. The whole spectrum of Disney is covered here: from classic films like Beauty and the Beast and Fantasia, to recent theatrical shorts like Paperman and Feast, to this summer’s (dare-I-say) already classic Pixar film Inside Out. The theme parks are represented with a retro style Jungle Cruise print, and—of course—the upcoming Star Wars: The Force Awakens has not one, but two prints available. Below are just some of the beautiful art you’ll be able to purchase at the Expo this weekend.
Cyclops Print Works will be releasing a set of Walt Disney Animation Studios Short Films Collection handbills by artist and Disney art director Joe Dunn. The collectible 5″ x 5″ 5-Color Serigraph handbills will be passed out throughout the Expo—one for each of the 12 short films included in the new Walt Disney Animation Studios Short Films Collection, which comes out on home video soon.
Cyclops Print Works will also have Dave Perillo‘s Fantasia 75th Anniversary print, an 18″ x 24″ 5-color serigraph print, limited to 240 copies for $55.Also from Dave Perillo is the officially licensed Feast print from Cyclops Print Works. The 10″ x 20″ 6-color serigraph print is limited to 240 copies and will be on sale for only $45.Mark Englert‘s “She Really is a Funny Girl” print, inspired by Beauty and the Beast, will be available for signing on Friday at 5 p.m. This one also comes from Cyclops Print Works, and is a 12″ x 36″ 9-color serigraph print, hand-numbered in a limited edition of 275. $60.
Also from Mark Englert is a print showcasing characters from the upcoming Star Wars: The Force Awakens. This one will be available to fans at the Art Awakens booth (#1415) as a 20″ x 20″ metal limited edition print. Proceeds will benefit UNICEF Kid Power initiative in the name of Star Wars: Force for Change.
A second Star Wars: The Force Awakens print will be available from Gallery 1988 and Art Awakens, highlighting the film’s new villains, the First Order. This one is from DKNG Studios—also printed on 20×20 metal—and will be available at booth #1415 while supplies last.
Aside from these great pieces, there will aslo be others available, including some based on classic Disney characters like the Genie in Aladdin, the short film Paperman, Inside Out, and of course Mickey, Minnie and Donald Duck. You can check out the rest of the prints in our gallery below:
