Planning cosplay for just yourself takes effort. Coordinating with a group? Forget about it. I see cosplay groups with anywhere from a few to a dozen people at every convention I attend, and I can’t imagine the extra time that goes into choosing the focus of the costumes, assigning or claiming characters, and keeping tabs on everyone’s progress to make sure all the costumes will be done by a given date for a convention or photo shoot. It seems like it would be necessary to have a team captain to keep everyone on task.
Smaller groups are likely more manageable to assemble for a photo session rather, which is probably less stressful than, say, a walk through a crowded exhibit hall. This The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt group, for example, gathered together in a fitting outdoor setting and they are on point:
