A revived, iconic band, a TV astronaut, the mastermind behind Comedy Bang! Bang!… it’s going to be another good week at the Nerdist Podcast Network.
Carrie Brownstein, Corin Tucker, and Janet Weiss are, of course, the legendary Sleater-Kinney, and they’ve returned after several years of hiatus to release a new album, “No Cities to Love.” But their appearance on the Nerdist Podcast starts right off with talking about their city, Portland, and Portland donuts and Portland ping-pong bars and Carrie’s Portlandia. And they discuss the Riot Grrl movement and Sleater-Kinney’s position therein, and being punk when you’re past 30.
Simon Helberg is more than just the guy who plays Howard Wolowitz on The Big Bang Theory, and on the Nerdist Podcast he talks about his new movie We’ll Never Have Paris and the differences between shooting a multi-camera sitcom and a low-budget indie feature. You’ll also hear him talk about the real-life situation that the film recreates, and what it’s like to put your own real dark moments on screen.
Comedy Bang! Bang! creator and host Scott Aukerman tells the Nerdist Podcast about the podcasting business, the work it takes to make the IFC television version of CBB, directing Between Two Ferns and the surreality of writing jokes for the President, and the possible Mr. Show reunion.
More? Yes. Great comic minds will collide when Al Madrigal visits You Made It Weird with Pete Holmes and Workaholics‘ Kyle Newacheck drops by Chewin’ It with Kevin and Steve. Sirens star Kevin Bigley gets Terrified, Reuben Langdon and Jonny Loquasto make return appearances on Bizarre States, actress Rachel Skarsten and comedian Andy Haynes tell truths on Today We Learned, and animation and comics writer/producer/publisher Jeff Kline takes the hot seat on a new Nerdist Comics Panel. (UPDATE: Jeff Kline’s been delayed, but the replacement’s a huge one: you’ll meet the showrunner of Fox’s hit Empire and the creator of Showtime’s The L Word, Ilene Chaikin, on Nerdist Writers Panel.)
And there will be much more, as always, because we have to do this thing before we have everything nailed down, but that’s website biz. Be ready. Go to the Nerdist Podcast Network homepage to listen and subscribe, and also join us at the Nerdist Podcast Network Facebook page. Start now.
