Hey, we have a new podcast this week at the Nerdist Podcast Network! More about that in a few seconds, but we also have the legendary Michael McKean, the season finale of SleepyCast, and a visit with the writers who helped make Joss Whedon’s Mutant Enemy Productions awesome (UPDATE: Not this week- see below).
All right, first, please welcome the Pro You podcast to our lineup. Tom J. Deters, the trainer that works with Chris Hardwick and who has helped Matt Mira lose weight and get in shape, co-hosts the show with John Moretti, and it’ll give you inspiration and motivation to get healthy and tips on how to get there. You want to feel and look better, right? Let these guys guide you. Get motivated with Pro You starting this week on the Nerdist Podcast Network.
Michael McKean has done so much outstanding work in his career that playing Saul/Jimmy’s brother in Better Call Saul just joins a long, long list of highlights. He stopped by the Nerdist Podcast and you’ll hear him trace his story from KRLA in Los Angeles and The Credibility Gap to sketch comedy and Lenny and Squiggy, then This Is Spinal Tap and the movie and TV career you know today. And, yes, Clue comes up. There’s also a Hostful Nerdist Podcast in store, and director Ted Melfi will be by to talk about St. Vincent.
(UPDATE: The Mutant Enemy panel show has been delayed due to production issues; this week, Co-creator Kerry Ehrin (Friday Night Lights; Boston Public) and co-star Freddie Highmore (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory) discuss Bates Motel on the Nerdist Writers Panel. Stay tuned for the Mutant Enemy episode, which is coming….) The Nerdist Writers Panel has taken you into some great writers’ rooms, but how about a look at the iconic Mutant Enemy bunch who made Buffy, Angel, Firefly, etc., etc. great? You’ll hear from David Greenwalt, Marti Noxon, David Fury, Jane Espenson, Tracey Forbes, Steven DeKnight, Drew Z Greenberg, Drew Goddard, and Elizabeth Craft. No other podcast gets this kind of insight about the craft of entertainment writing.
What else? Workaholics‘ Kyle Newacheck will be dropping by Chewin’ It with Kevin and Steve (yeah, I know, we said he’d be on a couple of weeks ago, but this time it’s real). Comedian/actor/writer Kyle Dunnigan will be making it weird on You Made it Weird with Pete Holmes. Our own Todd Glass will double up with an appearance on Terrified. Today We Learned will be graced by actor/writer/producer Adrian Martinez, who you can see in Focus right now, assuming you’re reading this in a movie theater where it’s playing, in which case turn off your phone already. The final SleepyCast of the season will recap Monday’s Sleepy Hollow finale with gusto. And Kate Leth and Jeremy Lambert make a return appearance on Bizarre States.
And more, all easily accessed by going to the Nerdist Podcast Network homepage to listen and subscribe, and also by joining us at the Nerdist Podcast Network Facebook page. Think of it as a workout for your mind.
