Chris Hardwick Tells CONAN About the Horrifying EXORCIST Doll Living in His House

Between the Nerdist Podcast and his numerous TV talk shows, it sometimes seems like our founder, Chris Hardwick, is destined to talk with everyone in Hollywood. But this week, Chris found himself on the other side of the desk, playing guest on Conan, where he got to divulge some details about his off-camera life.

First, Chris shared the story of his recent one-year wedding anniversary with his wife, Lydia Hearst. To celebrate the occasion, Chris said that they went to dinner then caught Annabelle: Creation (at his wife’s suggestion).

Lydia’s love of horror movie collectibles is serious business–this is the picture of The Exorcist doll that Chris mentioned in the clip. It’s not the easiest thing to come home to.

As Chris noted, he and Lydia have already had a lot of pressure to have children. So, Chris took the opportunity to explain to Conan why he’s not rushing into having kids, and why he’s afraid of raising a non-geek child.

Chris also shared a story about one of his favorite directors, Steven Spielberg. Apparently, Spielberg was less than enthusiastic about Chris’ request to do the E.T. finger tip touch at Comic-Con.

Additionally, Chris told Conan that he owns the Dark Helmet prop from Spaceballs and Gene Wilder’s credit plate from Young Frankenstein. He also got Mel Brooks‘ autograph, but he came about it in a strange, very Mel Brooksy way.

What did you think about Chris’ latest guest appearance on Conan? Let’s discuss in the comment section below!
