In the past decade, our fearless and beloved Nerdist leader Chris Hardwick has become quite the television staple: He hosts the improvisational game show @midnight on Comedy Central, voices a silly snake named Craig on Sanjay and Craig, and he’s a near-constant presence on AMC with his series of Talking aftershows since 2011. The format has since expanded to include Talking Bad (Breaking Bad), Talking Saul (Better Call Saul), and Talking Preacher (Preacher) in addition to Talking Dead (for all those The Walking Dead and Fear The Walking Dead fans), and now, we have some fantastic news: It was announced Tuesday that Hardwick has entered a three-year deal with AMC, during which he will continue his fruitful relationship with the network by hosting and serving as an executive producer for multiple programs.
“When we started Talking Dead in 2011, I had no idea it would become one of the most significant experiences of my life,” Hardwick said in a press release. “As a fan, having this kind of front row seat to some of the biggest pillars of pop culture has been a dream come true. Thank you to AMC for allowing me to continue to show up for appointment TV therapy with the legions of other fans for the foreseeable future!”
Joel Stillerman, President of Original Programming and Development for AMC and SundanceTV, also had some kind words for Hardwick: “There is simply nobody better than Chris Hardwick at doing what he does. He’s first and foremost a true fan, and his contagious enthusiasm for AMC content, along with his expertise of all things pop culture, his humor, and his engaging interview style have made him a post-show staple for AMC’s viewers. We are thrilled to be able to expand our relationship with him in this way.”
There’s no word on what new shows Hardwick will be involved in just yet, but we can’t wait to see whatever’s coming next. Congratulations, boss, and may your pop culture supremacy continue for years to come!
