It’s often been said by the kids in his class that of all the Charlie Browns in the world, the Blockhead himself Charlie Brown is the Charlie Browniest. But, maybe after being the butt of every joke since 1947, he’s gonna try to turn everything around, give himself a makeover, make a good impression on the Little Red-Haired Girl! I mean, it’s a noble goal, right?
In the new trailer for Fox’s upcoming The Peanuts Movie, Charlie Brown’s not gonna take it anymore (probably) and is turning to his trusty best friend Snoopy (a.k.a. The Flying Ace a.k.a. Joe Cool) to help. It’s going to be harder than even the greatest beagle on the planet thought, especially with Lucy still being top five worst human beings on the planet Earth.
With this new trailer, we get to see just how awesome the animation style for this movie is. While made using CG, it keeps the 2D comic strip roots of the Charles M. Schulz creation, and even gives it a kind of stop-motion, claymation feel which I think looks really rad.
The Peanuts Movie is directed by Steve Martino and written by Charles Schulz’ son Craig, Craig’s son Bryan, and Cornelius Uliano. With the family involved, I think it’s pretty likely to keep the strip and subsequent cartoon adaptations’ overall tone and state of mind, while updating it for a modern audience of kids who probably haven’t seen much about Snoopy, Woodstock, Peppermint Patty, Linus, and Pig Pen. Pig Pen, by the way, hasn’t showered in 70 years.
