When you hear Adam Carolla’s name, the first few things that probably think about are testosterone, beer, boxing, race cars, The Man Show, and Jimmy Kimmel. However, when the famous personality, whose podcast is still going strong, isn’t working (which is, like, never), he is a family man. So much so that he recently published a book about the joys and travails of parenthood called Daddy, Stop Talking! And Other Things My Kids Want But Won’t Be Getting. So, naturally, for this week’s episode of Celebrity Playlist, I asked Carolla to come up with a playlist that summarized his experience as a parent.
Suffice it to say that his no-bullshit worldview definitely filters into his outlook on parenting. With this in mind, the playlist he came up with includes tracks he likes to play to induce family dance parties ( Lord Sitar’s cover of “I Can See For Miles), songs that represent the unadulterated optimism of youth (Graham Parker’s “The Kid With The Butterfly Net”), and much more.
As you’ll see in the interview, Adam was very opinionated, and super funny about the music he likes and the music he despises. Some of the tracks he picked are artists my Dad also likes, which I am choosing to believe means that you just immediately enjoy John Hiatt the second you have offspring. There’s nothing wrong with that, though.
Thanks for checking out this week’s episode of celebrity playlist and be sure to browse through our other rad episodes. Last week, we talked to Marlon Yates Jr. about his favorite hip-hop tracks just in time for Straight Outta Compton. Check that out below.
