Calling All Node Warriors: Minneapolis, Portland, Brooklyn, And Detroit

Not these guys

Noted television personality and humorist Chris Hardwick is, as readers of this here website are acutely aware, traveling the country with his comedic dog-and-pony show on the Chaotic Good tour of America. New additions to that tour include the previously-announced Minneapolis, plus Portland, Brooklyn, and Detroit. And it’s time to warn… er, let everyone in those areas know Chris is on his way to entertain the populace.

It’s Node Warriors time. Here’s what it involves: You’ll be part of a “street team” to download, print, and distribute flyers throughout the community wherever Chris Hardwick fans might congregate, with the goal being to fill each venue with folks who’ll appreciate the Nerdist brand of humor and community. We’ll choose ten Node Warriors in each city, who will each receive a pair of tickets for the show in appreciation. As Chris said the very first time he put together a Node Warriors team like this, “If you’re bored the next couple of weeks and feel like meeting folks while building a thing, then THIS IS YOUR CALLING.” Yeah.

We’ll do it the same way we did it the last time: Send an e-mail ASAP (before next Wednesday, April 13th) with your full name, the city in which you want to be a Node Warrior, and why you want to do it, to [email protected]. Make the subject line “Pick ME In (insert city).” (Put your choice of city in there. We know the “I, State Your Name” joke already)  We’ll pick ten people in each market, and those people will get invites to join the Node Warriors (and for the Node if they aren’t members already) and ticket invites. Others will be able to join the Node Warriors but won’t get tickets, ’cause those are of limited number. You’ll coordinate with other Warriors through the Node forums, and you’ll be able to download flyers to print and distribute. And everyone who comes to the shows gets a big (optional, if you’re contact-averse) hug from Chris at a little meet-up after the show.

The show dates are May 6th at the Varsity Theater in Minneapolis (click to buy tickets), May 14th at The Aladdin in Portland (ticket link TBA), May 20th at Littlefield in Brooklyn (click to buy tickets), and June 10th at the Magic Bag in Detroit (Ferndale, actually, but close enough) (For the 7 pm show, click here for tickets, and for the 10 pm show, click here for tickets).

So get your e-mails in ASAP. Let’s get the word out. Chris is standing by to hug YOU.

Yeah ! Hope I can get tickets!

  2. Kenna says:

Just curious if the Node Warrior invites have gone out yet?

  3. Portland is presently on hold. That’s all the information I have. They never tell me anything. (pout) I’ll post what I know when I know it. That should be fun.

Thanks to everyone who volunteered; invites and info to the Warriors coming shortly…

  4. cal says:

How about hitting Ann Arbor? Tons of college students here would show up!

  5. Mary says:

I can’t make it to the Brooklyn show, prior engagement. Sad face. Book a show in Manhattan. It’s been too long since I’ve seen you!

  6. Katy says:

I’m so jazzed that you’re coming to Detroit! Now I have to decide whether to buy tickets for just one or both shows….just in case they’re different. 😉 Sent off an e-mail to you – but I will be plastering the metro Detroit area with posters regardless!

  7. Dawn says:

    Portland!! Huzzah and jubilation!!

  8. SlaveToTheGrinds says:

C’mon guys how do i convince the old man to go..i need suggestions here to make it worthwhile.

  9. Patti says:

I sent in my email. I am going to the show in Ferndale with 4 friends. I am very excited! I will try and get someone to plaster the area with posters. Sooo happy!

  10. LanceSKY says:

Consider Detroit covered in posters. Well, I mean… your posters. You don’t seem like the type to mind being pasted over hookers. I’ll design one and @nerdist a link to it for others to use.

  11. Wade says:

Awesome that you used the video game poster for The Warriors, which is a fucking awesome game.

  12. SlaveToTheGrinds says:

Derp Yay! Detroit! That was a fast answer to my request in the James Gunn post. Hehe. *dances* Now to convince the husband he wants to go….any suggestions?

  13. Blaine W Flowers says:

So excited to see Chris in Portland! Inviting all of my friends. Any chance of seeing Matt and Jonah as well? That would be the best.

  14. smartbunny says:

BROOKLYN! I work there! Looks like I am going to TWO shows! Hey, write a new hour of material for the second leg. Thanks.

  15. Shay says:

I figured Chris would never come to Cleveland but I hoped that he would come to a close city. Detroit works! Sooooo excited!!!!!!!

  16. Christine says:

Funny enough, I was planning on being in Boston during the Brooklyn show. I will still promote the hell out of this thing for you, though.

  17. Valerie says:

Yay, Portland! Hope I can get tickets!

  18. James says:

Suppper happy you are coming to Minneapolis! Just sent my e-mail out!

  19. Cheri says:

Between yesterdays Doctor Who premiere announcement and this announcement, I am glad the east coast (more specifically, NY) nerdist fans are gettin’ some lurve! Just sent my e-mail in, hoping to be able to pimp out the show and raise “nerd awareness!”

  20. Tim says:

Here is holding out hope that Pittsburgh is still a possibility.

  21. Mari says:

-is spazzing that he’s going to be in the area- spazz

  22. Bryan Kress says:

Ferndale is part of Metro Detroit, so you can still call it Detroit if you’d like. (that sounded a tad douchey, I apologize…)
