One day after Bethesda dropped a live-action trailer for Dishonored 2, DICE and Infinity Ward have upped the game with their wild live-action trailer for Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare; and it’s all kinds of crazy.
Peter Berg directed the Infinite Warfare trailer, which apparently takes place in an alternate 2016 that’s been an even crappier year than the one we’ve lived through. Europe left the European Union, while Canada has built a wall to keep us out, and we probably paid for it. So, it’s hard not to embrace this sentiment: “Screw this, let’s go to space!”
From there, it’s a pretty wild ride through the dog fights in space, while seemingly ordinary gamers use advanced weapons including what appears to be a gravity grenade. And what better soundtrack for this insanity could there be than Guns N’ Rose’s “Welcome to the Jungle”? Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps and actor Danny McBride even make cameo appearances, but there’s no sign of Kit Harington, the Game of Thrones star who is one of the game’s featured villains.
For some context, Infinite Warfare is set in the far future, after the people of Earth have expanded into space and colonized the solar system. But don’t expect a Star Trek-like utopia. The Settlement Defense Front has set their sights on Earth to conquer their homeworld and the surrounding colonies. And as the name of the game suggests, this is warfare on an infinite scale. But it sure looks like fun!
Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare will be released on November 4 for Playstation 4, Xbox One, and Microsoft Windows.
