Prior to Starz’ Ash vs. Evil Dead live-action series, the only official continuation of the adventures of Ashley J. Williams came within the pages of Dark Horse and Dynamite’s Army of Darkness comic books. The comic medium allowed Ash to cross paths with the Danger Girl team, Vampirella, Xena, Darkman, and even the Marvel Zombies. Ash also took on Freddy Krueger and Jason Voorhees twice, and he came out on top both times.
But what if Ash were to challenge the zombies of The Walking Dead? Series creator Robert Kirkman has been pretty protective of his hit comic book series and blockbuster television franchise that’s already spawned a companion series called Fear The Walking Dead. Yet that didn’t stop Campbell from “leaking” a copy of a script that pit Ash vs. The Walking Dead. The result was a crossover that we’d love to see, even if it was as brief as this script.
That is such a perfect Ash response. Of course it would all be over by the time that Rick Grimes got out of his coma. Ash may suck at living a normal life, but the undead (evil or otherwise) just can’t match his boomstick skills and his trusty chainsaw hand.
The one thing that Campbell left out is that the rise of The Walking Dead‘s flesh-eating monsters in this crossover was probably Ash’s fault. That’s been a running gag throughout the Evil Dead franchise. Ash inevitably lets the Deadites return because of his foolishness before ultimately triumphing in the end.
