In a new video from The Bottle Boys, the musical dudes team up with Danish beat-boxing prodigy Thor Mikkelsen to do a series of Disney cover songs. (That sentence alone should be enough to file this video under “things that could only happen on the internet.”) The songs pay homage to the original Disney versions while adding their own unique twists by changing up the style a little bit. They explain this further in the description for the video on their YouTube channel:
For each of the songs we’re playing we’ve chosen a different musical style…we give the chorus of “Colors of the Wind” from “Pocahontas” a drum and bass vibe which suits it quite well, we find. 🙂 We then pay homage to “The Silly Song” from “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” in an old school hip hop version…“Let It Go” from “Frozen” has been requested a lot by you guys and here it finally comes. We’ve given the song a house/dubstep treatment which was great fun to play!
The Bottle Boys are four friends from Denmark that have made a name for themselves covering popular songs, playing sets of beer bottles like pan flutes. Their YouTube channel is filled with all kinds of fun tunes to check out, and there is plenty more Disney for those that liked this video.
Thor Mikkelsen, on the other hand, is an 18-year-old Danish beat-boxer who has won several competitions, including the 2014/2015 season of Denmark’s Got Talent (Denmark har Talent) under the stage name Thorsen. Check out his YouTube page, as well, for even more awesome beat-box work.
