Throughout the continuing run of Fox’s animated series Bob’s Burgers, there have been a variety of “Burger Of The Day” gags on a chalkboard in the Belcher Family’s burger joint. Whether connected to the overall plot of the episode, or just a quick aside hidden in the background, the Burger Of The Day is always a treat for the viewer. This spring, that fun can finally be brought to you on a plate, with the release of The Bob’s Burgers Burger Book: Real Recipes For Joke Burgers.
The book will be a collection of recipes created by fan Cole Bowden from his blog, The Bob’s Burgers Experiment, in which Bowden attempts to create his own version of the burgers from The Burger Of The Day board in each episode. Bowden revealed the cover for the book in a recent post on his page, but there is no official list of what burgers will make the cut for the published version. The show’s creator, Loren Bouchard is also involved with the book’s creation—most likely writing inserts as Bob while describing the ideas behind different burgers.
The Bob’s Burgers Experiment started as nothing more than a fun idea a college student had while enjoying a wacky cartoon show, but has blossomed into the officially-endorsed place to build ridiculous burgers thought up by a group of writers simply for a laugh. One can only wonder how ridiculous the burgers will get from now on, knowing someone has to try and make these things into a reality now. I, for one, can say we here at Nerdist can not wait to try them.
The Bob’s Burgers Burger Book: Real Recipes For Fake Burgers will be published under Universe, an imprint of Rizzoli Publications, under supervision of Bento Box Entertainment and Fox. Look for it on shelves in March 2016, or pre-order it from Amazon or Barnes & Noble.
