When does a movie have TOO much going on? When it’s 2012’s Lockout, a film so full of absurd situations and that-couldn’t-happen conveniences that it would HAVE to be fodder for Awesomely Bad Movies.
The movie stars Guy Pearce, doing his best John McClane meets Snake Plissken impression, as a mercenary who has to go into outer space to an orbiting maximum security prison. There, he must rescue the daughter (Maggie Grace) of the President of the United States in order to avert some kind of horrible thing so that the government can blow up the prison without too many famous fatalities. And as if that weren’t enough, every single piece of CGI in the movie looks like it was rendered on someone’s home computer (and very likely was).
Join me as I talk to myself in a weird surfer guy voice to discuss this movie, and join us next week when I’ll talk about the animal-based horror movie that producers of Jaws made immediately preceding the first blockbuster. HINT: It is a million times dumber.
