Last week, you drooled over the full trailer for the new Godzilla movie, which looked amazing and dark and full of scares. This week on Awesomely Bad Movies, I take a look at the mother of monster mash-ups when Godzilla, Mothra, and Rodan team up to face a titular alien beast in 1964’s Ghidorah, the Three-Headed Monster.

Marvel as I talk about how it takes forever for monsters to show up, how there’s a weird Venusian lady subplot, and how extras literally just stand around waiting for people to do things. You also get to see two tiny fairy twins translate monster speak for the benefit of all the stupids looking on intently. It’s quite a thing.

I’m hoping the GODZILLA reboot this year has Kaijus in it like GHIDORAH (I understand there’s one that’s like a cross between MOTHRA and something Lovecraftian) …. no matter how cheesy the special effects look? They’re a million times better then the shiiiite CGI used in whatever SyFy channel broadcasts!

This movie was fun Saturday afternoon monster fare when I was a kid. Who cares if it’s stupid? It’s got giant monsters in it.

  3. Asepto says:

I love this movie!!!! It’s still more entertaining than half of Hollywood’s current movies

    this is awesome

  5. Frankie says:

aaaaaaaaaaaah I love this movie no matter what problems it may have. It’s an excellent special effect film when given a clean print. So much of the SFX is lost to people with the clearly awful dubs and edits
