Learn Some Instagram Dos and Don’ts from INGRID GOES WEST Stars Aubrey Plaza and Elizabeth Olsen

In the never-ending quagmire of content that is social media, it can be hard to know what’s wrong and what’s right when it comes to making sure your #brand is on point. You don’t want to wind up looking like your mom or grandma when it comes to taking selfies, or shelfies, or posting photos of you and your friends with your favorite breakfast foods. But with Instagram, Snapchat, Facebook, Twitter, Vine (#neverforget) changing all the time, keeping up with best practices can be sorta tough.

Enter: Aubrey Plaza and Elizabeth Olsen, the stars of Ingrid Goes West (out August 11th), a sort of Single White Female-meets-Instagram tale of friendship, obsession, and likes on likes on likes. Now, we here at Nerdist are obsessed with the film (just read our review from Sundance), and thought the film’s stars would be the perfect pair to break down some of the more important things to keep in mind before you post your next thirst trap.

Ingrid tells the darkly comedic story of Ingrid Thorburn (Plaza), who dreams of escaping a her regular life by moving out West following a few life setbacks. She befriends her latest Instagram obsession—a Los Angeles socialite named Taylor Sloane (Olsen)—and we watch both girls’ real selves peek through the cracks, to horrific and comedic effect.
