He may be the most ridiculed member of the Justice League, owing mainly to his time on the Superfriends, to be fair, but Arthur Curry, known on both land and sea (though mostly land) as Aquaman, is perhaps one of the most powerful members of the whole group. Possessing the ability to breathe under water, communicate with sea life, and be almost indestructible, Aquaman is certainly a force to be reckoned with, but he hasn’t really seen much action in the DC Animated Universe. Until now, that is (I’m the king of set-ups). Premiering in 2015, the next direct-to-DVD DC Entertainment and WB Animation film will be Justice League: Throne of Atlantis, a sequel to Justice League: War from earlier this year.
Jason O’Mara, Sean Astin, and Christopher Gorham are back voicing Batman, Shazam, and the Flash, respectively, and this time out are joined by Rosario Dawson as Wonder Woman, Jerry O’Connell as Superman, Sean Patrick Thomas as Cyborg, and the one and only Nathan Fillion reprising his role as Green Lantern from earlier animated features Emerald Knights, Doom, and The Flashpoint Paradox. Matt Lanter, who voiced Anakin Skywalker in all 5 and a half seasons of Clone Wars portrays Aquaman and another galaxy-far-away resident, Sam Witwer, is providing the voice of the Water Fella’s half-brother and enemy Ocean Master. Quite a cast there for this one, and from the look of the trailer, it’ll be big on deep sea ‘splosions and sharks and whatnot.
Guess you won’t be making fun of the guy with the trident again any time soon, huh? Justice League: Throne of Atlantis premieres next year. Are you looking forward to this outing? Do you think Aquaman’s gotten an unfair shake in the world? I mean, he’s the only one who can grow a beard regularly, so there’s that. Let us know in the comments below!
