“Are you Inhuman?” That’s the question put forward by the upcoming third season of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., and the first answer has been given in the opening minutes of the season.
During the second season finale, the Inhuman terrigen entered the ocean’s food chain and made its way into the seafood aisle of your local supermarket. That means that the number of Inhumans in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is about to go up dramatically.
The first few minutes of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 3 depicts the awakening of a new Inhuman, and the unwitting destruction he leaves behind in his wake. It also gives Chloe Bennet’s Daisy Johnson a very memorable entrance, as she shows off her new costume and a greater mastery of her Inhuman powers.
Constance Zimmer makes her MCU debut in that scene as Rosalind Price, the woman leading an organization dedicating to containing the Inhuman threat. And as far as they’re concerned, the Inhumans are aliens! Director Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) also appears in the scene, but notably outside of the action now that he’s missing a hand.
The third season premiere of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will also introduce Matthew Willig as the Inhuman known as Lash while Agent Leo Fitz (Iain De Caestecker) attempts to figure out exactly what happened to Agent Jemma Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge) in the closing moments of season 2. And somewhere out there, Grant Ward (Brett Dalton) is marshalling Hydra’s forces to get his revenge on Coulson’s team.
Our good friends at Geek and Sundry hosted an Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 3 premiere last night, with a Q&A hosted by the one and only Felicia Day. But everyone else will get to see the new season beginning on Tuesday, September 29 (stay tuned for our interviews with the cast on the red carpet!).
