A Rare Handwritten HARRY POTTER Prequel Was Stolen

It’s a dark and twisted time in Hogsmeade! A rare, possibly one-of-a-kind Harry Potter prequel handwritten by J.K. Rowling herself has been stolen. According to the New York Daily News, the handwritten notecard with a single prequel story written on the front and back was stolen back in April from its rightful owner, who had won the document in an auction. With no leads, the West Midlands Police have turned to the public to hopefully track down the thief and recover the stolen property.

Rowling herself has appealed to her legions of fans to not purchase the story if it should turn up in our earthly versions of Knockturn Alley. The unlucky wizard who was robbed has remained unnamed in all the drama, but I’m sure it feels good to know that they have such a powerful witch on their side. The story was written by Rowling and auctioned off to support English Pen, a nonprofit that supports journalism, freedom of speech, and access to literature. I think it’s safe to say that if the author, recently quite politically active on social media herself, supports this organization enough to donate such a unique auction item, English Pen is fighting the good fight.

The West Midlands police believe that the story only really has value to a true Harry Potter fan so they are hoping that this direct appeal will both halt the clandestine sale of the notecard and catch the dark wizard behind the robbery. There have been no details on the prequel’s contents itself. Perhaps these public pleas will lead to leaks of such information that could ultimately result in the return of the story, but only time will tell.
