While we already knew Nintendo would be debuting The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild footage during The Game Awards tonight, it didn’t make the new footage any less magical. During the award show, a brand new clip titled “Life in Ruins” debuted — we already have so many questions. In it, we see a bit more of the world, what Link will be up against, and who he might be adventuring with. Witness the epic trailer above and get to speculating.
Princess Zelda, is that you? The assumption is the character above is the series’ namesake. But the character’s head is intentionally out of frame both times we see her, so the character could be anyone. We’ll have to wait for more details regarding the character. Whoever it is, it looks like they’re ready to fight. Here’s another screenshot showing the character standing in front of link just before she clenches her hand in a fist.
During the VGAs, Nintendo President “Reggie” Fils-Aimé appeared on stage to introduce another trailer, showcasing even more footage. In the video below we see the game’s director Eiji Aonuma apologizing for missing the show, but gifting us with new footage of the game. Check it out:
This video gave fans a deeper look at gameplay directly from the game. Watch as Link treads the gorgeous environment, and showcases his weapons. We can’t wait to see more of the game ahead of its launch next year.
The game is expected to release sometime in 2017 along with Nintendo’s highly anticipated console, Switch.
What did you think of the footage? Who do you think the female character is? Let us know in the comments below!
